The Inauguration of the SLFP UK Branch (Maithri Faction)

The Maithri faction of the SLFP UK Branch was established on the 10th of January 2015 at the Lihiniya Restaurant in London Cricklewood.

A large crowd consisting of Sri Lankan expatriates who extended their active support to the Common Candidate Mr. Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Election and to the Leader of the Opposition Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe to achieve this historical triumph was present and the individuals who supported the Ex-President Mahinda Rajapakse also participated in this meeting.

Having taken the aspirations of the participants of this meeting into serious consideration to extend their active support to the newly elected President in order to achieve the objectives of the new government, the office bearers were elected for the new UK Branch of the SLFP. They were insisting of the need to implement the 100 day plan swiftly and to strengthen the administration of new President fulfill this tremendous challenge within the given period.

A delicious dinner was served to the gathering and all were happy about the inauguration of this new branch as a very important initiative in relation to good governance and economic prosperity of the country. The newly elected office bearers had the full blessings of the participants to proceed further with their plans to help Motherland.

It is worth to mention that there was a remarkable participation of the members of the younger generation in this meeting and it was a positive indication of their enthusiasm in extending support to the new political administration in Sri Lanka. Everything went smoothly and the meeting was finished with a high degree of optimism.
